COLLEGE and CAREER ACCESS CENTER TUTORING PROGRAM
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title
In-Class Tutors: Biology; Algebra; and 8th Gr. English
2-16 periods per week (7:00 am to 2:00 pm)
After School Tutors: Biology; Chemistry; Physics; Algebra- Intro, 1, 2, 3; Geometry;
Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Civics, World Cultures, English 8, 9
1, 2, 3, or 4 afternoons per week (2:15 – 3:30 pm)
Building: Woodland Hills Junior/Senior High School
Reports to: College and Career Access Center Academic Support Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
 BA or BS (preferred) in Biology, Math or Literacy, or college student (3rd-4th year education
major).
 Teaching job experience preferred.
 Strong communication and motivational skills.
 Ability to affectively communicate with, and work with students, staff and parents.
 Current clearances.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Affectively works with students individually or in a small groups to assist in class/ and after
school
 Maintain accurate records, and enter data.
 Communicate effectively with students and exercise appropriate judgment while dealing
with them.
 Provide assistance to the teacher in supporting a safe and orderly classroom environment.
 Become familiar with subject curriculum
 Communicate effectively with students, teachers and parents.
 Exercise confidentiality as to School District and student matters.
 Plan appropriate academic activities for each student using a variety of instructional
techniques and strategies, with the incorporation of technology to supplement instruction.
 Supervise/mentor peer tutors during the afterschool Peer-Tutoring Sessions to help assist
tutees complete work assigned by classroom teachers.
 Maintain consistent, effective communication with the classroom teachers to confirm the
academic goals and progress for each student.
 Assist with any additional assignments supervisor may request
Salary: $10- $20 per hour based on certification and experience
Terms of Employment: Two days/week in-class with teacher and/or after school with peer tutors.
