Science ~ Human Body Folder Project ~ Major Grade ~ Required ~ Due: B-Day: Thurs. 2-25 & A-Day: Fri. 2-26
Choose ONE of the following body systems. You will create a folder following these instructions.
You may use your book, websites and other resources for help. Do NOT use Wikipedia. The project must
be neat with no spelling errors and in your handwriting.
Body system options and parts:
∙Respiratory—nose, mouth, trachea, diaphragm, lungs, bronchi, alveoli
∙Nervous— brain, spinal cord, nerves, nerve receptors.
Label the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system
∙Digestive — mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder, Rectum, Anus, small
intestine, large intestines
∙Circulatory — heart, veins, arteries, capillaries, aorta, superior vena cava, inferior
vena cava, carotid artery, jugular vein
∙Skeletal—Skull, vertebrae, ribs, pelvis, patella, clavicle, femur, tibia, fibula,
tarsals, metatarsals, phalanges, carpals, metacarpals, humerus
∙Muscular—biceps, triceps, deltoid, pectoral, abdominal, quadriceps, obliques, & cardiac.
Folder Directions:
1) Write your name, class period, and title on the front of your folder. Decorate the front of
the folder. (Up to 10 points; name, period, title, creativity, folder condition)
2) On the copy paper provided, draw the outline of a human body. Draw and label the body system of
your choice (inside the outline). The drawing must show each part mentioned above and each part must
be accurately labeled. The diagram must be an easily recognizable representation of the system. The
diagram should be the STUDENT’S ORIGINAL work. DO NOT PRINT OR COPY A PICTURE FROM A
BOOK OR THE INTERNET. (Up to 30 points)
3) On the notebook paper provided, answer the following questions about the same body system
in COMPLETE SENTENCES. (Up to 60 points)
1. What is/are the main function(s) of this system?
2. List at least 6 of the parts given in the instructions above and explain their functions.
3. What needs to be done to keep the system healthy?
4. Name and describe a disease caused when the system is unhealthy.
5. List all the resources you used to gather your information for this project. (title of textbook,
books, websites, magazines, etc.)
*** For full credit you must follow ALL of the directions listed and the assignment must be turned on time by
A-Day, Thurs. 2-25-16 & B-Day, Fri. 2-26-16!!! If you lose or damage the folder and/or papers the
