Mental Illness
A Physical brain disorder that
profoundly disrupts an individuals’
ability to think, feel, and relate to
others and their environment.

A functional mental illness where you
are aware but disturbed by reality.
The most common form of mental
illness.
Symptoms
Range from Mild to Severe
Anxiety
Production of tension, exhibited as
stress, emotional reaction, or loss of
control. (see stress information on
fight or flight)
Hypochondriasis
Fear or extreme anxiety of illness
Phobias
An acquired irrational fear that is
intense and directed at objects/things.
Conversion Hysteria
An emotional conflict of the
unconscious mind transferred to the
body. Usually a limb or sense organ
such as sight or muscle control.
Amnesia
Hysterical loss of memory or identity.
Neurotic Depression
Blue days; a milder form of
depression withdrawn or loss of
desire. Can range in form from mild
to severe.
Obsession
An idea that sticks with you against
your will; a constant focus.
PTSD- Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder
An emotional or physical reaction to a previous traumatic
event
Compulsion
Unconscious drive which compels or
forces you to do something.
OCD- Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder
An emotional conflict that is
combined with the drive to do
something repeatedly.
