1924 - 2016
BARTLETT, Richard C. Born January 8, 1924 in Brockton MA, passed away December 13, 2016. He was
educated in the East Bridgewater MA public schools and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in
Boston. During WWII he served as a bombardier/navigator in the U.S.Army Air Corps, completing 35
missions over Europe. Dick taught graphic arts at the Museum School and later held book design and
production positions at D.C. Heath, Beacon Press, and Harvard's Peabody Museum of Archaeology and
Ethnology. Upon retiring to Cotuit MA in 1980, he resumed making fine art fulltime. His work, from the
lithography and serigraphy of his early career to the watercolor and acrylic paintings of Cape Cod and
the many countries he visited, is held by museums around the world. He is survived by his wife of 70
years, Carmen (Nassi) Bartlett, sons Gregory and Jay, and sister Rosemary Nielsen. Services private. In
