Native to eastern Asia, including China and
Korea.
Description
Small to medium sized deciduous tree that
grown up to 7m in height. It has bright bluishgreen compound leaves. Produces masses of
yellow flowers from mid- to late summer,
followed by papery fruit reminiscent of Chinese
lanterns. Leaves turn a rich pinkish-gold in
autumn and new growth is purplish-red. It is
often planted as an ornamental tree because of
its beautiful flowers, leaves and seed pods.
Characteristics of species
 Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions.
 Produces masses of bright yellow flowers.
 Stunning pinkish-gold autumn foliage.
 Fruits resemble Chinese lanterns.
 It is a showy tree.
