SOCIOLOGY
General Information:
Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social cause and
consequences of human behavior. Sociologists research the structure of groups,
organizations, and societies; and people interaction within them.
Though graduate work is required in order to become a professor, researcher, or
applied sociologist, many entry-level positions are available to Bachelor degree
holders, such as in the social service and government industries. Employers look
for people with the skills that an undergraduate degree in sociology provides.
Many students choose sociology as their major because of its broad liberal arts
training, which is useful in fields such as law, education, medicine, social work,
and counseling.
