STI's
Bacteria vs. Virus
(A Health Webquest)
Introduction:
This lesson is designed with two purposes. The first purpose
it to educate you about some of the more common Sexually
Transmitted Infections (STI’s). Second is to teach you the
differences between a viral (virus) and bacterial (bacteria)
STI’s
The Task:
I. Your task is to view the various links which have been
highlighted in this webquest. There are several pieces of
information you will gather from the following activity.






What is an STI?
What is the difference between a virus and bacteria?
What are three STI bacterial infections and how are
they treated?
What are three viral STI infections and how are they
treated?
What are some symptoms of these STI's?
What types of preventative measures can one use to
avoid STI's?
II. After carefully viewing each of the links, you and your
group may take the quiz together.
III. Once you have passed the quiz, you can go to the last
step:
IV. Write a 1/2 page summary of one particular STI
including information on the following:



Is the STI viral or bacterial?
How is it treated?
What ways are there to prevent getting the disease
and/or transmitting it, and what are some
symptoms?
The Process:
To accomplish the task, you must go through specific steps.
Use the links you are given as they come up in your reading
of this lesson. As you come across a link, click on it and read
the information presented, and then make a few notes as to
what you have learned before you move on. (The notes will
help you in the quiz). You may work with one partner or
alone. If you work with a partner each of you are responsible
for handing in your own completed worksheet for each
section; this means you CANNOT put both of your names on
one worksheet…
