MEAN
definition: the average of a set of data
steps
1 add numbers
2 count numbers
3 divide the number of numbers by the sum of all numbers
example: 15+47+6+48+69+11=196/6=32.7
mean is used for many different ways like at school. when we take a test
we have to have a class average we do the exact same thing as we did
above.
MEDIAN
definition: the middle number of a set of data
steps
1. put numbers in order
2. mark numbers from start to end
3. if there are two numbers left add the numbers together and divide by 2
MODE
definition: the number that appears most in a set of data
steps
1.put in order
2.look and see which number has the most
! there sometimes will be more than one mode!
you would use this in life when doing test scores to see which ones
grades has the most
RANGE
definition: the smallest number and largest number in a set if data
steps
1. put in order
2. take the first and last number and subtract them
example what is the range below out of the three exam.
