Know the facts about breast cancer
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and you can join us in stopping this disease by getting
the word out.
About one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Other than skin cancer,
breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women. According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most
common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska native
women.
Tell the people in your life how important it is to get regular mammograms. These easy tests can detect breast
cancer early, giving everyone a better shot at beating it.
If you’re a woman, talk to a doctor about your risk for breast cancer, especially if breast or ovarian cancer runs in
your family. Your doctor can help you decide when and how often to get a mammogram.
Moda Health offers tools and information to your wellness. If you have a serious health issue or injury, our case
management services can help you get the care you need.* You’ll work with a registered nurse, social worker or
other health professional. Log in to your myModa account at modahealth.com for details.
*Case management may not be included in all benefit plans.
