Greek Myths
 Mythology – a traditional story, a collection of myths; one belonging







to a particular religious or cultural tradition.
Theseus and the Minotaur
Crete won the war against Athens an made them send 7 youths & 7
maidens to Crete.
Theseus wanted to go on the voyage to kill the beast so that no more
youths would die.
Minotaur – half man & half bull
Labyrinth – maze
Ariadne wanted to help Theseus because she was in love with him &
did not want him to die.
Theseus escaped from the labyrinth by using strong string to help
him find his way back to the start.
Theseus forgot to replace the black sail with the white sail because
he was happy to have killed the Minotaur.
Daedelus & Icarus
 Daedelus invented wings to help them fly to
escape.
 Daedelus told his son Icarus don’t fly to
close to the sun.
 Icarus disobeyed his father because he was
having fun.
 Lesson learned – obey your parents
