Did you know?
1. Your occupation can kill you.
Occupational death and injuries are higher for certain jobs and workplace conditions. While
some are preventable, there are some high risk occupations. Non-fatal workplace injuries and
exposure to harmful substances also place a burden on society. What safety laws protect workers
in high risk occupations?
2. Take a vacation but don’t bring back a souvenir.
Infectious diseases do not respect borders. A disease threat in one country can quickly be
transported to another by just one infected person. An outbreak of a new or re-emerging disease
is a global threat and should be perceived as one by all countries. Travelers need to be alerted.
What global surveillance systems and factors are in place for early alerts and how can these help
prevent diseases from crossing borders?
