Prof. Roberto Tagliaferri
From 1986 to 2000 Roberto Tagliaferri was researcher of
Computer Science and Cybernetics, from March 2000 to
October 2006 was Associate Professor of Computer Science
and since November 1 2006 has been full Professor at the
Faculty of Sciences, University of Salerno.
He had the following courses:
- Cybernetics and Information Theory from 1991 to 1996,
- Courses in Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networks from 1996 to today,
- Computer Architecture from 2001 to 2005
- Laboratory of Computational Biology from 2008 to 2012
- Bioinformatics from 2010 to today.
His organization activity includes:
He co-organized Italian and international workshops on Neural Networks and Bioinformatics from 1988.
He was co-editor of the proceedings of WIRN from 1995 to 2005.
He was co-organizer of the following special sessions:

He was co-director of the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ON MATHEMATICS "GUIDO STAMPACCHIA", 50th
Workshop on Optimization, Machine Learning and Bioinformatics in 2010 and scientific responsible of the
Erasmus intensive course on "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Microarray Data Analysis" in 2010 and in
2011.
He is Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics and of Source code in Medicine and Biology
of Biomed Central.
The scientific activity has been oriented to the design and analysis of models to describe complex systems
through the use of Neural Networks and Computational Intelligence methodologies, and to the design of
architectures and of learning paradigms for Connectionists models.
Such activity has produced the development of several applications in the following areas:
- Signal and Image Processing,
- Clustering, Classification and Visualization of multidimensional data,
- Environmental diagnostic,
- Anomaly identification in industrial systems,
- Bioinformatics,
- Medical Prognostics
- Survival analysis
- Neuroimaging
- Big data analysis.

He is senior member of the IEEE "Computational Intelligence" and "System, Man and Cybernetics" societies
and of INNS. He is chair of the Italy Capter of the IEEE CIS.
He is member of New York Academy of Sciences.
