Your other a-level History course is called ‘Anti-semitism, Hitler and the German
People’.
Using the internet, log onto http://www.ushmm.org/propaganda/archive/
This is a website full of anti-Jewish propaganda, assembles by people interested in
the area of study that you will be looking at.
1) Pick one image or source from the range available- make it an interesting
one, whether it is an image, speech or clip
2) Analyse it- What are the key messages? What ways are they trying to
persuade people? Why was it drawn- for what purpose was it created? What
audience was it intended for? Who made it and when? What was happening
at this time?
3) Extension:
Below is a short extract explaining about a controversial book called the
‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion’:
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is the most notorious and widely distributed anti-Semitic
publication of modern times. Its lies about Jews, which have been repeatedly discredited,
continue to circulate today, especially on the Internet. The individuals and groups who have used
the Protocols are all linked by a common purpose: to spread hatred of Jews.
The Protocols is entirely a work of fiction, intentionally written to blame Jews for a variety of ills.
Those who distribute it claim that it documents a Jewish conspiracy to dominate the world. The
conspiracy and its alleged leaders, the so-called Elders of Zion, never existed.
Research this book, producing notes or a powerpoint. Details that need to be
included:

Where did it come from?
What does it say?
How/ when was it exposed as a fraud?
How did the Nazis use it?
What about today? Is it still important?
Be careful, this is a controversial text that has been used to spread lies. Be especially
careful reading opinions from ‘experts’ on the internet.
