New Hire Instructions for
Non-Benefited / Part-Time or Student Employees
NEW HIRE ORIENTATION
Who needs to attend?
All new employees and all re-hired employees who have not worked for the RF for over one year are required to attend
New Hire Orientation. Employees must attend orientation prior to their first day of employment.
How do employees schedule orientation?
Please have the employee call the RF Human Resources office at 898-4909 PRIOR to the first day worked in order to
obtain an orientation appointment. Walk-ins without an appointment cannot be accommodated.
What is the duration of the orientation appointment?
Employees should plan on spending approximately 45 minutes completing their paperwork and receiving their
orientation to Foundation policies and timesheets.
What are employees required to bring to orientation?

The employee is prohibited from working by Federal Law if the I-9 is not completed within 3 days of
employment.
Additional Items – As Needed Based on Job Description:
• Charge Authorization Form (CAF) for Live Scan fingerprinting - Required for individuals working directly with
minors, elderly, or handling money/funds.
• CANRA Acknowledgement for Mandated Reporter Status – Required for individuals working with minors or

• Vehicle Use Certification (co-signed by the supervisor) and DMV Release of Driver Information - Required for

*Project Directors/Supervisors are responsible for timely completion of a PAF. New Hire PAFs must be completed and
signed by the project director/designee and employee and be submitted to the RF Human Resources office before or at
the time of new hire orientation. New hire orientation cannot be completed without a completed and signed PAF.

printed or printed and completed by hand.
Non-Resident International Students:
Non-Resident International student employees will require an appointment for the completion of their paperwork.
Please contact the RF Human Resources office at 898-4909 to schedule and appointment.
AFTER NEW HIRE ORIENTATION
The new employee needs a CSU, Chico email account, how do they obtain an account?
The employee’s supervisor contacts Coleen Stewart in the RF Human Resources office at [email protected] or
898-4526. Coleen will verify employment and complete the ITSS ticket.
The new employee needs a CSU, Chico Staff Wildcat ID Card, how do they obtain a card?
The employee’s supervisor emails a request to ID Cards at: [email protected]
The new employee needs CANRA - Mandated Reporter Training, how do they obtain access to this training?
Once the employee’s email account is set up, they can login in the CSU, Chico training website and take the course. If
they do not have a CSU, Chico email account, the supervisor can contact the RF Human Resources office at 898-4909 to
request manual assignment of the training: http://www.csuchico.edu/training/index.shtml
The new employee is required to drive as part of their job description and must take Defensive Driver training, how
do they obtain access to this training?
If the PAF and job description state that the employee is required to drive as part of the position description two or
more times per week on a consistent basis, then the Human Resources department will assign the training to the
employee via email.
When will the employee receive their Research Foundation ID number? The employee will receive a card in the mail
with their RF ID number and copies off all of their new hire paperwork approximately two to three weeks after their
hire date.
When will the project receive a copy of the completed PAF?
The project will receive a copy of the completed PAF, with the assigned RF ID number, via email from the Human
Resources office. It will be emailed to the Project Contact listed on the PAF.
