The Palabora Copper Training and Development Department is responsible for delivering
training and development interventions and opportunities that are specifically aligned to
accelerate transformation through skills development. The role will provide expert advice,
support and management of the Palabora Learning Programs, Skills Development and
Operations Training Sections. It will also be responsible for other training related to the Growth
project.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
 Designing, coordinating, scheduling and conducting training and development
programs that can be delivered in the form of individual and group instruction, and
facilitating workshops, meetings, demonstrations and conferences
 Develop and Implement the Skills Development Plan.
 Developing a team culture and team behaviour that will enable the team to meet
business goals.
 Ensure 100% compliance to Legislation and all relevant SETA requirements
 Identifying training needs and requirements of individuals and organizations
 Liaising with external training providers to arrange delivery of specific training and
development programs
 Monitoring and performing ongoing evaluation and assessment of internal and
external training quality and effectiveness, and reviewing and modifying training
objectives, methods and course deliverables
 Prepare and submit various statutory reports e.g. the Annual Training Report
 Preparing and developing instructional training material, and supporting training
reference documentation
 Setting human resource development objectives and evaluating learning outcomes
Intrinsic Qualities:
 Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
 Excellent presentation skills
 Previous exposure to a managing a budget.
 Previous exposure to statutory requirements and relevant legislation.
 Proven project management and organisational skills.
Required Qualifications and Licenses:
 Degree/ B Tech in Mining, Metallurgy or Human Resources
 Assessor qualification
 Moderator qualification
 EB Drivers’ License
Required Experience:
 5 years’ experience within a training department in a mining or industrial environment
 3 years’ experience at a T&D supervisory level.
 3 years’ experience as an active assessor and moderator
 3 years’ experience working with SETAs (preferably MQA or MERSETA)
 Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office) & experience in working with SAP
Advantageous:
 Qualification in OETDP (Occupational Directed Education & Development Training
Practitioner)
 Qualification in SDF( Skills Development Facilitator)
 PDP license
