 A series of seminars on health related issues every second Sunday
of the month from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
High blood pressure is one of the major risks for cardiovascular disease (such as heart attack, stroke and
chronic kidney disease). Our next seminar is on this topic.
These health seminars, which are open to everybody and are given every second Sunday of the month,
provide useful information on prevention as well as the treatment of the diseases.

Changing of Holy Thread Ceremony
Dear Devotees
Upakarma (Avani Avittam, changing of the Yagnopavita—the holy thread or Janeu) pooja will be held at
the Temple on Monday 7th of August, starting at 7 am. The pooja will include thread changing, Gayathri
Japam, Tharpnam to Rishis/Devas/Pithru, followed by a havan.
Pooja will start at 7 am sharp and will be concluded by 8:30 am.
Please bring new thread (if you have), a large stainless-steel plate, Pancha-Patram, a bowl and a couple of
fruits for offering.
Parents of children who are going to celebrate their first Avani Avittam, please contact the Temple (613822-1531) for additional ritual to be performed.

The Temple is happy to announce that the Bal Mandir Program has once again started.
It is held every Sunday from 12:10 to 1:00 pm in the lower meeting room. The program
consists of a variety of exciting activities for children, including reflection on upcoming
festivals and events in the Hindu calendar, discussions on cultural aspects of Indian
culture, stories, crafts, and more. Everyone is welcome.
Welcome to our new priest!
Board of Directors are happy to announce that a new priest has joined the Temple from
March 15, 2017. His name is Himanshu Gaur, and he was born in Almora-Uttarakhand
in India. He did his Acharya from Shri Lal Bahadur Rashtriya Vidyapeeth (deemed
University) in Delhi. He is fully versed with all Hindu festivals, religious activities,
customs and rituals.
With his arrival, we have all the three priests at the Temple. We are sure that you will
join us in welcoming Pandit Himanshu Gaur at the Temple and wishing him a successful
and pleasant stay in Ottawa.
