COS Grommet Mount System Assembly Instructions
Kit Parts:
1 Grommet Arm Assembly
1 Mounting Plate
1 Rod
Trays (2 or 3)
Support Claws (2 or 3)
1 Hex Bushing
1 Top Cap
1 Smart Things™ Flower Vase
1 Smart Things™ Gripper
Intermediate Kit includes all the above plus:
1 Accessory Dish
1 Utility Tray
1 Smart Things™ CD Tower
2 Smart Things™ Short Dividers
Deluxe Kit includes all the above plus:
1 Smart Things™ Long Divider
1 Smart Things™ Utility Mat
1 Smart Things™ Handy Mat
Step 1
Screw in ¼” machine screws into bottom of grommet base. Determine length of machine screw to use
based on thickness of work surface:
 Work surfaces ½” to ¾” thick – use ¼ x 1 ½” screws
 Work surfaces ¾” to 1 ¼” thick – use ¼” x 2” screws
Step 2
Align grommet mount base over hole in work surface, install mounting plate over screws and tighten
screws (See Figure A).

Step 3
Thread the rod into the top of the arm assembly.
Tighten with wrench until snug (See Figure B).
Step 4
Assemble Tray Support Claws. Properly align
tray and claw, holding claw and tray upside down
with tray rib facing up. Insert tray into support
claw slot until tray touches back wall of slot.
Align legs with T-bars of tray rib. Please note:
Tray and claw are correctly centered when the
center tray hole can be seen in V-shape of legs.
Snap support claw legs into position on rib of tray
(See Figure C).
Step 5
For systems that include the utility tray and/or
accessory dish, slide tray/dish onto rod first (See
Figure D).
Step 6
Slide Tray Support Claw onto rod, making sure it
is nested onto tray/dish. Please note: Accessory
dishes and utility trays move with Tray Support
Claw (See Figure D).
Step 7
Repeat Steps 4, 5 and 6 for all components (See
Figure D).

Step 8
After installing all components, insert hex bushing
into center of support claw, aligning the hex shape
of the rod with the hex shape of the hex bushing
(See Figure E).
Step 9
Thread top cap through hex bushing into rod,
tighten or loosen to achieve desired movement
(See Figure F).

Step 10:
Install CD Tower, Gripper or Flower Vase onto Top Cap (See Figure G). Install Smart Things (Utility Mat,
Handy Mat, Short and Long Dividers) by inserting tabs into desired holes on trays (See Figure H).
Arrange to best meet your needs. (See Figure G, H and I for suggested ideas).
Step 11:
You are now ready to enjoy your COS clamp mount system. Please exercise common sense when using
the COS system. This product is intended for office use and is not to be used for other purposes. Please do
not lean or rest upon unit. Weight capacity of 2 Layer System = 12 lbs. Weight capacity of 3 Layer
System = 18 lbs.
