Head Athletic Trainer Full-Time College of Saint Mary (CSM) invites applications for the position of Head Athletic Trainer. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. CSM is a private, all-women’s college of approximately 1,000 students, committed to the development of students through excellent academics that combine professional and career preparation with the liberal arts. Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Evaluate and determine the nature, scope and extent of an injury and/or illness of the student athlete, initiate medical care, provide treatment, and develop rehabilitation procedures. Implement injury prevention methods; utilize therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative exercise equipment to aid in injury recovery. Provide training services for all intercollegiate teams before, during and after home contests and practices. Established and maintain consistent training room hours. Supervise all training room operations and activities along with creating a clean and safe environment. Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions. Understanding of working extended hours or a varying schedule per season (fall, winter, spring) based on team competitions and/or practice sessions. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding all student athlete medical records. Ensure all incidents are documented and accurate records are maintained. Follow all HIPPA protocols with all information pertaining to a student athlete inherent to the profession. Ensure all student athlete paperwork is on file concerning documentation information specific to; emergency contact, insurance, heath history, injury history, and physical form. Coordinate and manage annual protocol for student athlete physicals. Assist with establishing unique sport medicine partnerships. Coordinate medical referral procedures when needed. Maintain high level of communication with coaches, student athletes, parents, and associated health care providers. Provide advice /consult with coaches regarding athletic training care and procedures. Order, inventory and manage athletic training supplies. Research and apply contemporary and updated practices of athletic training. Travel with sport teams to competition sites when warranted and approved by Athletic Director Provide athletic training coverage during CSM sponsored youth sport camps including summer related activities. Arrange /schedule part-time Athletic Trainers with approval of Athletic Director. Be trained in Blood Borne Pathogen Protocol (BBP) and oversee the training of department coaching staff. Maintain current membership in the NATA. Have knowledge of and experience with Microsoft and Word Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Oversee the cardio and weight training rooms. Monitor cleanliness of the cardio/weight room and the machines/equipment, oversee cleaning occurs. Inspect cardio/weight room equipment weekly for safety and maintenance needs. Work in collaboration and assist with Athletic Department/CSM personnel on special events, activities, projects and fundraising ventures when assigned. Is an active member of the Athletic Department and Student Development staff; attends all staff meetings and other committees as assigned. Duties as needed assigned by Athletic Director. Requirements: Master’s Degree and a minimum of 1 year of related collegiate experience working as a certified athletic trainer with teams. Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification for Athletic Training. Athletic Trainer license by state of Nebraska or eligible to receive through the State of Nebraska Public Health. First Aid/CPR/AED Certified Knowledge and application of corrective exercise programming for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
