Employee Notice of New York State Paid Family Leave Payroll Deductions
As you may know, New York State has enacted one of the most comprehensive Paid Family Leave laws
in the nation. Beginning on January 1, 2018, every company with one or more employees will be required
to provide PFL benefits to qualifying employees. Also, under the Paid Family Leave law, this new benefit
will be funded by employees, through a payroll deduction of 0.126% of each employee’s weekly wages,
with a maximum payroll deduction of $1.65 per week.
This is not an optional deduction. Paid Family Leave benefits will be provided through an insurance
policy, and administered by our New York State disability insurance carrier. The Paid Family Leave law
requires virtually all employees to contribute premiums for the Paid Family Leave program through a
payroll deduction.
We will begin payroll deductions for Paid Family Leave on (Insert Date Payroll Deduction Will Begin).
