These materials are obtained via English as a Second Language (ESL) books
and web resources at economical cost. The English materials used in the
module are more suited towards tahfiz students compared to common English
materials as they are organized and tailored to help the students’ journey on
becoming a hafiz or hafizah. Through a series of activities conducted via the
module, results have shown that students were able to relate to the materials
presented and most importantly enjoyed the activities while using the target
language. The ICE module has a great potential to promote English as a
medium of interaction among tahfiz students and build their confidence
towards the target language. The ICE module shall provide an insightful

Novelty and
uniqueness
The Interactive and Communicative English (ICE) Module for Tahfiz
Students has uniqueness especially in terms of communicative activities
which incorporate the Islamic teachings and practices. In addition to the
materials from ESL books and websites, the module also adapts several texts
related to the history and development of Islam. The combination of both
Islamic and English materials offer a good and conducive platform for tahfiz
students to practice using the target language in their daily routine.

Benefit to mankind
The ICE module is a comprehensive guide for tahfiz students in acquiring the
English communicative skills needed. It provides an alternative and practical
method in developing students’ interest towards oral presentation skills. In
addition, it has a huge potential in assisting tahfiz school educators to utilize
the English speaking activities in their classroom. It also helps the students to
comprehend basic concepts of verbal and non-verbal in communication.
Potential
commercialization
The ICE module appears to be like any normal English textbook for students.
Apart from that, the module plays an important role as a teaching and learning
tool especially to help facilitate tahfiz students learning using the target
language. With suitable and appropriate materials such as high definition
visual stimuli and audio recording, the module can be enhanced to suit current
demands for a proficient English speaker.
Acknowledgment
The head project member acknowledges the endless support from the tahfiz
schools administration, teachers and students in making the module
materialize. The ideas and motivation provided by the Academy of Language
Studies, UiTM Melaka are acknowledged.
