Dear Colleague
We are pleased to inform you that applications for both the Rising Eagles Graduate programme and
Barclays Africa Graduate Bursaries are now open for the 2017 intake. These programmes further
demonstrate Barclays Africa’s commitment to skills development and education.
Rising Eagles programme
The 12 month programme aims to accelerate the graduates’ professional development and transition
into the talent pipeline, enabling them to become future leaders and specialists for targeted business
critical roles across Africa.
Entry criteria
A postgraduate qualification (minimum NQF Level 8) in the following fields:
 Industrial or Process Engineering
 Financial Mathematics
 Statistics
 Finance
 Information Technology
 Economics
 Risk management
 Accounting Training Programme (CIMA and SAICA)
 Actuarial Sciences
 Less than 24 months permanent work experience (this excludes temporary work during full-time
studies).
Barclays Africa recruits graduates across the African countries in which we operate. Applicants need
to have citizenship of the country to which they are applying. Apply online - Visit

Barclays Africa Graduate Bursaries
These bursaries are made available to full-time students who are studying towards Bachelor degrees
that provide essential or identified skills within the Financial Services Industry.
The bursaries allow students the opportunity to complete their studies and potentially pursue a career
within Barclays Africa.
There are two types of bursaries offered by Barclays:
Group Bursary Programme
Applicants should either be provisionally accepted or currently studying towards the following
degrees at an accredited South African university:
Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in:
 IT
 Informatics
 Data Science
 Statistics
 Actuarial Sciences
 Risk or Investment Management
 Engineering (Industrial/ Financial/Process)
 Other relevant Mathematical Sciences
BMI Bursary Programme (Partnership with the North West University only)
The Business Mathematics Informatics (BMI) Bursary programme is a collaborative partnership
between Barclays Africa and the North West University (NWU).
This bursary is aimed at candidates who intend to study at the Potchefstroom Campus or Vaal
Triangle Campus of the NWU in 2017 for the M.Sc. degree in BMI and Informatics, specialising in
one of the following:
 Quantitative Risk Management
 Financial Mathematics/Informatics
 Data Mining / Business Analytics
 Actuarial Science
 The four-year Hons. B.Com degree in Risk Management
The closing date for applications for both the Rising Eagles Graduate programme and Barclays Africa
Graduate Bursaries is 31 July 2016.
