Jesse has worked as part of the development team for the last two months as a contractor.
In this role, he has displayed a good work ethic and he fits the team well. He has also
already contributed to the development of the Lominger eSuite code base.
The technologies that we use to build the Lominger eSuite of applications are based on
Java and J2EE. Jesse has displayed expertise in all of these areas, such as Servlets, JSP,
Struts, EJB, JMS, and JDBC, as well as SQL and Oracle, which we use to store our
mission-critical data.
Though Jesse has not had experience utilizing the development processes we use (XP and
Scrum), he has used RUP, and has read about XP and Scrum and he has very quickly
adjusted to the agile nature of our development team. Some aspects of our processes that
were new to Jesse are Unit Tests and Mock Objects. He has successfully become very
adept at knowing how and when to effectively use both practices.
In the two months that he has worked as part of the development team, he has
demonstrated a willingness to learn new technologies, such as our Crystal report server,
and has presented creative and insightful ideas for solving technical problems within our
applications. Through thoughtful and informed design discussions, he has also displayed
a firm understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) using UML and
design patterns. A short list of the design patterns that he has already used or put into use
at Lominger are: Factory, Strategy, Service Layer, Service Locator, Application Service,
Builder, and Singleton.
In addition to his technical abilities, Jesse has demonstrated good communication skills
by presenting his design ideas and his analysis of specific problem areas both to Mike
Ackmann and to me. His team-oriented nature is evident by how quickly he became a
trusted part of our development team, which already contains a number of diverse skill
sets.
For the purposes of testing and screening Jesse O’Neill-Oine for the position of Senior
Java Architect and Developer, he has overwhelmingly passed. Both his intellectual and
interpersonal skills will make him a valuable addition to our development team.
