Cell Simile Poster
Task: Your task is to design a simile between a plant or animal cell, and some other system you are familiar
with. A simile is when you use something that is compared to something else usually using “like” or “as.” An
example would be: A cell is like a school with all of the organelles in the cell working together like the parts
of a school do so that it can run smoothly.
Extra Information:
 You need to not only create a simile for the cell, but also have to have all of the organelles accounted for
OR you can have individual items accounting for each organelle.
 You will choose a plant or animal cell, by using the opposite of what you are doing for your cell project.
 Your poster should have a title that provides a simile statement for the whole cell.
 You will need to have a drawing in color of your cell, and a drawing in color of the place you are
comparing to the cell
 Your poster should be divided up similar to the example below

Cell Simile Timeline
REMINDER! YOUR POSTER NEEDS TO BOTH BE LEGIBLE AND NEATLY PRESENTED
Day 1
Write out rough draft of simile
statements, finish any
incomplete work as homework
Day 2
Divide up poster space
Write out title and title
simile statement
Teacher’s Initials:_____
(Once you have my initials you
may get poster board!)
You will receive 5 points for
completion of this on time!
Begin illustrating the
cell and labeling
organelles
Day 3
Finish up cell
illustrations and
labels
Day 4
Put your simile statements on
your poster!
Wrap up any other loose ends.
Complete
Simile
statement
illustration and
labels
If you are not finished in class
you will need to come in
before school tomorrow or
after school today!
