Problems
Cannabis is not physically addictive but this does not mean that people who use
the drug won’t experience problems. Cannabis users can develop an intense
psychological dependence on the drug. Users feel they cannot cope a day
without it and other interests fall by the way side. Cannabis is often mixed with
tobacco which is a very addictive drug. When users try to stop smoking cannabis
they may misinterpret nicotine withdrawals as withdrawal symptoms from
cannabis. For further advice see DAN 24/7number below…

Mental Health
People who start using cannabis regularly in their early teens seem to be more
likely to experience problems with their mental, emotional and social well being in
later life. Cannabis use has been strongly linked with mental health problems
like schizophrenia and psychosis but at the moment the exact link is still unclear.
There is also the suggestion that cannabis does produce temporary psychotic
symptoms in people that have never experienced mental health problems before.
What is clear is that cannabis use will make existing mental health problems
worse and provoke mental illness in those who are susceptible.
