My main concern is the triggers that determine the different levels of environmental assessments.
Changes to the Navigational Waters Protection Act, and Fish Habitat At seriously reduced these
triggers and dilutes the assessment process and need changes to Measures to coordinate
environmental assessments had a similar impact. The Species at Risk Act should be included as a
trigger of federal environmental assessments on their own.
Overall, the various levels in the federal Environmental assessment process, and which
department has the lead in the makes it very confusing and often perplexes citizens. This needs
changes to make it less complex.
