• After the Federalist Party collapsed, the nation
experienced a period of political harmony.
• The Monroe Doctrine declared that the United
States would defend the freedoms of other
nations
• The Adams-Onís Treaty gave East Florida to the
United States.
• The War of 1812 convince many older
Republicans to support a stronger federal
government
• Land speculation, inflation, and a full-scale
depression were caused by the decreased control
of banks by the federal government in 1837
• National pride and loyalty describes
nationalism.
• The Era of Good Feelings was a period of
political harmony.
• The United States did all of the following
during the First Seminole War seized Spanish
forts in East Florida, fought to stop American
Indian raids, executed two British officials.
• By 1819 most of Spain’s Latin American
colonies had launched revolutions.
• Sequoya worked to create a Cherokee writing
system.
• Osceola encouraged the Seminole to stay in
