In last 15-20 years revolutionary advances were experienced in computer hardware, software and there were
significant applications of sensors and electromechanical systems. Artificial intelligence, especially intelligent
systems, is recently mainstream components in industrial automation. The role of AI in automation tools like
CAD, CAE, CIM and intelligent robots in improving the productivity of manufacturing process has been given
due attention in this session. There are many applications of artificial intelligence in design and manufacturing
processes such as, component selection, design, reasoning, learning, perception, sensing, recognition,
intuitions, creativity, analysis, abstraction, planning and prediction. Use of intelligent system is increasing to
enhance quality and production rate in all manufacturing sectors. The basic objective of this special session is
to attract researchers from interdisciplinary domains to transfer, interact and apply new upcoming
technologies to manufacturing industries.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
 Applications of Knowledge based systems for component selection
 Robot integrated CIM systems
 Hybrid intelligent systems in design and manufacturing
 Manufacturing process Quality monitoring using IoT
 Intelligent material handling systems
 Artificial Neural Networks for requirement planning
 Intelligent scheduling for Just in Time (JIT) manufacturing
 Sensor assisted machining
 Applications of genetic algorithms for process optimization
