W61PC application software.
• Remote control from other applications
using third party software, e.g. Radio
Monitoring Tools, Alarm Monitor.
This allows the system to be adapted to
the client's need and applications.
Using an audio or IF input signal, the
W61PC decodes a variety of data and
graphical transmissions. The determination of signal characteristics is assisted by a
large number of analysis and measurement functions operating over a wide
range of signal parameters. The W61PC
is the advanced next-generation decoder
in the well known WAVECOM® line of
decoders.
The W61PC is equipped with powerful
DSP software and hardware to allow the
realization of realtime demodulators and
filters. The large onboard memory provides sufficient space for data buffering.
Additionally, the whole computing power
of the host PC is also available for data
processing.
The application utilizes TCP/IP to communicate with other W61PC cards available on the LAN.
A maximum of eight W61PC cards may
be installed into one PC, providing the
basis for a high performance signal decoding system. This combined with the network capabilities allows a system to be
configured for many different configurations. Complex systems for massive data
processing, are only limited by the number of cards and the performance of the
hardware and software.
The configuration of the system components can be completely adapted to the
requirements of the customers. A W61PC
decoder card may be controlled from
everywhere in the network and its output may be sent to one or more applications on the network.
Any PC can be used for remote control
of W61PC cards for decoding, storage,
analysis and monitoring.
The W61PC software is a 32-bit Microsoft
Windows application providing a familiar
user interface and system functions.
The availability of sophisticated software
development tools allows rapid implementation of new functionality.
In order to process the data output, control the hardware and the code parameters
of the W61PC, a remote control interface
is available, allowing easy integration between the W61PC and customer applications. The easy-to-use user interface with
well structured pulldown menus allows an
operator to become familiar with the
W61PC in a short time. A high degree
of operator proficiency can quickly be
achieved.
All of the integrated analysis tools contain
many different methods and viewing options. It assists the operator in analyzing
the important signal parameters.
Exact measurements are easily made using
adjustable cursors with associated numerical displays. Dynamic zoom functions
allow magnification of details in any
selected window. The scroll buffering feature makes it possible to move back and
forward in signal history.
Realtime FFT functions with a fast display
refresh rate are implemented. Additional
powerful functions provide the tools for
analyzing unknown signals.
A wide range of system default settings
can be configured, e.g. input signal level,
sampling rate, measuring interval, centre
frequency and demodulator type.
Additionally a variety of international
alphabets can be selected.
More than 150 codes are currently implemented.
Services
For authorized government agencies
WAVECOM® is able to provide:
• Additional customer specific codes.
• Software source code and the complete
development environment. This allows
for implementing additional codes or
adapting the user interface to specific
requirements.
• Training.
Applications
Typical fields of applications for the
WAVECOM® decoders include:
• Manual or automated monitoring of
radio data communications in the
HF/VHF/UHF/SHF (satellite) bands.
• Signal intelligence.
• Signal analysis and classification.
Within official bodies and telecommunications authorities, the range of applications is from stationary monitoring of
one transmission with a single system to
fully automated broadband monitoring.
Automatic recognition of PSK (partly),
FSK, MFSK and CW codes makes completely autonomous operation possible.
Decoded data can be imported from
third party applications running on the
same or another computer in the network.
The included Alarm Monitor is an example of such an application. It triggers an
audio signal or a pager message if a preconfigured string is detected in a decoded text message. With such applications, the data output can also be used
to control receivers, recording equipment
or be transferred to complex data analysis tools for offline processing.
Software generated time stamps may be
automatically added to each line of decoded data to ensure precise backtracking
of any signal.
High portability and quick setup makes
this WAVECOM® decoder the first
choice for:
• Notebook users
• Mobile units
• Units, “ready to go”
• Outdoor monitoring
• Use in vehicles like planes, ships, cars
etc.
• Environments with changing users/
computers.
The full support of all W61PC functions
lets the W61LAN easily communicate with
other applications. Real DSP technology is
combined with today's PC power.
General Description
W61LAN Hardware
The W61LAN decoder offers all the functions of the W61PC plus all the advantages
of a small computer system. The complete
electronic circuitry is realized in a metallic,
shielded box. It can be connected to a PC
or laptop via LAN or can run as a normal
standalone system.
As the W61LAN operates at 12V DC
power, it is very well suited for mobile use.
The W61LAN may be operated in a number of modes:
1. With the WAVECOM® user interface
from any computer connected to
the LAN or the Internet.
2. With Windows XP "Remote Desktop
Service".
3. As a self contained computer system.
4. With third party remote control
software.
W61LAN contains a W61PC, a complete
single board computer system, hard disk,
VGA, USB, soundcard and LAN. Multiple
systems can be connected to one
laptop/PC. It is also possible to use a
W61LAN together with other WAVECOM®
products.
W61LAN Software
The standard W61PC user interface is
able to communicate with a W61LAN unit
over the network. The W61LAN application is exactly the same software used for
the W61PC.

Reports (Text, XML)
Description
WAVECOM® W61BV, the powerful
BitView Tool enables the user to analyze
any bit stream. The range of functions
extends from the display of a bit stream in
various formats, simple bit stream manipulations, over statistical and mathematical
operation up to complex mathematical
functions and functions based on coding
theory.
The tools are directed at users with comprehensive know how in mathematics
experience in this area.
All steps of the analysis are automatically
logged and saved to log files in XML format. The log file may be loaded and used
by the software to repeat the saved analysis steps. This enables analysis sessions to
be documented and stored for later automatic rerun without user intervention.
To a certain degree this feature enables
the user to implement a preproduction
decoding, when a decoder is not yet available. The amount of data to be processed
and the processing speed, however, limit
this use.

Classifier Option
Additional
information
• Automatic classification of radio data
signals.
• Extension to the W61PC/LAN/USB
decoders.
• Fully integrated into the WAVECOM®
user interface.
The classifier is a software option for the
professional versions of the WAVECOM®
W61PC/LAN/USB decoders.
The ability to rapidly identify unknown
signals has increasingly become an essential
requirement in signal analysis.
The automation of the signal classification
process relieves the operator from manual
evaluation, which otherwise requires consierable skills and experience. The combination of a classifier and a decoder thus satisfies the requirement for an automatic system that is able to rapidly and reliably
determine the characteristics of radio data
transmissions within the signal spectrum
being monitored.
The user interface of the WAVECOM® classifier is fully integrated as a software
module in the existing hardware and professional software.
Additional graphical FSK, MFSK and PSK
information on symbol timing and constellation, baud rate and frequency vs.
time is displayed in a separate window
when a classified signal is selected from
the list.
Classification
The results of the classification are shown
as a list in a second pane. The following
parameters are provided for each classified signal:
• Modulation type
• Center frequency of the signal
• Number of carriers in the case of
multicarrier FSK
• Baud rate in the case of FSK or PSK
• Frequency shift in the case of FSK
• Bandwidth
• Confidence level as a percentage
Code check
A FSK/PSK or MFSK code check of the
classified signal may be initiated to further determine the signal. After the code
check has been completed, the determined code may be started.
