Scripture: The ultimate authority, as it contains
special revelation from God
Reason: When Scripture does not speak plainly,
truth flows from what reason can necessarily
conclude from reflection upon Scripture
Tradition: When reason is applied in the
preceding manner, the voice of the Church in its
highest councils, both past and present, is
authoritative
