The intention is to extend the contract on an annual basis beyond March
2008, subject to the availability of funding from partners in support of the
Biodiversity Information Centre.
The Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre has been established to bring
together information on Hampshire’s natural environment. The Centre is
hosted by the Environment Department of the County Council on behalf of a

biodiversity data.
The aims of the Centre are to collect, collate, manage and disseminate
reliable information on Hampshire’s biodiversity to those who require it, to
increase knowledge and understanding, and to enable informed decisions to
be made about factors affecting the environment.

collation, validation and input of data onto a biological database, and the
updating of data onto a Geographic Information System. You will also be
expected to provide data to a wide range of user groups.
You should have an appropriate environmental degree or professional
qualification, an understanding of ecological principles and natural history, a
minimum of one year’s experience in biological recording, management of
biodiversity data and the ability to use computer-based information systems
including GIS.
Salary will be according to experience and qualifications.
