Climate
• More seasonal than tropical rain forest
• Dry season last 6-7 months
• Abundant rainfall last 5-6 months
• Dry season: the forest is earth tones, trees are dormant,
Birds, mammals, and even insects make seasonal migrations
to wetter habitats
• As rain approaches the trees will start to flower and insects appear to
pollinate
• Rainy season: it’s an emerald tangle, trees produce leaves for
the first storm, landscape transforms

• Kit and gray foxes
• Mountain lions
• Badger
Plant life
• Up to 40 tree species in a small forest
• Trees, shrubs, and undergrowth
• Some of the dominant plants are: Columnar cacti, deciduous
trees, drought-tolerant orchids
Threats
• Deforestation
• Fires; caused by nature and
humans
• Pollution
• Erosion
• Animals being chased away
in some areas
