Acquisition Analyst
The National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), the largest non-profit syndicator of low-income
housing tax credits, is seeking an Acquisition Analyst to assist the Midwest region in the
underwriting of affordable housing projects sponsored by non-profit and for-profit
developers seeking equity investments from NEF. The Analyst will assist all acquisition
staff on the team in evaluating the feasibility of investments including part or all of the
following tasks: evaluating the market, the sponsor experience and capacity, reviewing
loan documents, preparing a financial model, an initial draft of an investment proposal
and preparing engagement or commitment letters and closings. Ability to analyze
project’s financing, development budget, construction schedule, operating expenses, debt
service, and market comparability and developer capacity. This position is located in
Chicago, IL.
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate or graduate degree in business,
economics, urban planning or finance. Minimum two years experience in underwriting
and structuring real estate projects. Applicant must have good analytic skills and ability
to interact with new clients. Proficient skill sets are needed in Excel, and ability to learn
dedicated systems. Prior experience with affordable housing loans or investments and
knowledge of state and local housing finance programs a plus. Skill sets must include
excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, exemplary oral and written
communication and proficient computer skills. Frequent travel will be required.
