ACADEMY PROFESSOR
ACADEMY PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND NUCLEAR
ENGINEERING. The United States Military Academy is accepting Applications for the
position of Academy Professor in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering.
Principal responsibilities of the position include academic leadership, teaching, and
scholarship in the field of Physics or Nuclear Engineering. Specific duties will include
teaching undergraduate courses in physics and nuclear engineering; supervision of
faculty and academic programs; curriculum development; faculty development; service
on faculty committees; and research. Applicants should have a demonstrated capacity
for academic achievement and scholarship, previous college-level teaching experience,
and a strong commitment to the educational, military, physical, and character
development of cadets. Applicants should have an exemplary military performance
record, to include successful company level command, success in leadership and staff
positions, branch qualifying field grade experience, and recent experience in an
operational unit. Completion of advanced military schooling (ILE minimum) and key
developmental service as a major are highly desirable. Candidates should hold an
earned doctorate in physics, optics, nuclear engineering or a closely related discipline,
or hold a masters degree and be able to obtain a Ph.D. within three years of selection.
