It has many craters on its surface, like Earth’s moon. Venus is the second planet from the sun. It rotates in the opposite direction than the other inner planets. Earth is the third planet from the sun. It is the only planet we know of that has life. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. Dust storms are common and the dust is what gives mars its reddish color. Inner planets or Terrestrial planets 4 planets closest to the sun They are made of rock and are small. Outer planets or Jovian planets 8 planets in our solar system. 4 planets farthest away from the sun Made of gases, large, have rings & many moons Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It is the largest planet in our solar system and has thin rings. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. It has a large, wide system of rings that are made of ice and rock. Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It is tilted so far on its axis that it rotates on its side. Also, the rotation is in the opposite direction of the rest of the outer planets. It also has rings. Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun. It has narrow, faint rings arranged in clumps.
